Improper operation of rubber products in the molding process is prone to burrs. This is because in order to fill the mold during processing, it is necessary to control the thickness of the rubber blank when placing the plasticized rubber blank, which is generally better than the rubber filled with the mold. A little more, burrs are generated; burrs are not a "big problem" in the processing of rubber products, but manufacturers also need to take certain measures in subsequent processing, that is, trimming. So how can rubber product manufacturers reduce the probability of burrs? What other methods can be used for trimming?
1. Reasonable design of molds and timely maintenance of molds: rubber product molds have the greatest impact on the surface of products. Unreasonable mold design and inadequate mold maintenance (including inspection, cleaning, etc.) will increase the probability of burrs. Therefore, rubber product manufacturers are in the production process. It is necessary to design the size of the mold, clean and inspect the mold in time, and fundamentally reduce the probability of burrs; rubber product manufacturers can also choose a mold without flash, that is, a tear-off mold (the flash will be removed as soon as it is torn), which saves money directly. The de-trimming process improves the appearance and performance of rubber products, reduces manpower and material investment, and saves production costs.
2. Trimming process: The appearance of burrs on rubber products is an irreversible process. Once it occurs, only the appropriate trimming process can be selected according to the production conditions. The common ones are manual trimming, freezing trimming, and mechanical trimming.
① Manual trimming: This is the most traditional trimming method, which requires the operator to manually use a punch, scissors, scraping, and other tools to remove the rubber edge so that the rubber product can meet the product drawing size without scratches, scratches, and deformations. and other problems; this operation process has strict requirements on the operating technique of the operator, but since each person is an independent individual, it is difficult to control the quality and speed of trimming.
②Frozen trimming: This is a new trimming method that replaces the manual dehairing of rubber products. Different types of rubber products have different phases at different temperatures. Currently, the commonly used method is to use liquid nitrogen to harden, embrittle and crystallize the burrs of rubber products at low temperatures, and use specific frozen particles to hit and trim the edges; Under the same temperature conditions, generally, the thin part becomes brittle first than the thick part. Frozen trimming is accomplished by using the brittleness gradient caused by the thickness difference between the overflow edge and the body. Frozen trimming has high production efficiency, low labor intensity, and stable quality, but high operating costs. It is generally suitable for trimming of pure rubber or other medium and high-grade rubber products.
③Mechanical trimming: This trimming method mainly uses punching, a grinding wheel, and a circular knife for trimming. It is the most widely used trimming method at present, and is suitable for specific products that do not require high precision.
In the actual production of various rubber products, oil seals, O-rings, seals, and other sealing products that require higher precision generally require higher trimming processes. There are many kinds of trimming processes. In terms of frozen trimming alone, it includes low temperature shot blasting trimming, brush trimming, drum trimming, vibration trimming, swing trimming, vibrating trimming, etc. Choose the appropriate trimming process according to the actual needs.
